Twice As Hostile

Like chicken
You once with us scratched the earth outside the kitchen
The eagle swooped low to snatch
What we tried hard to clutch
Our very own, product of the yolk
You we trusted to lighten the yoke
Chicken power called democracy
Crashed him lower as we yelled in ecstasy
Chicken don't fly any high
Our spines we hurt to soar you to the sky
Warnings we made about your haste
In invading the infested nest
We still wait for balm to rub our sprains
Only to feel shit sputter on our brains
Right from the eagle's nest
And now we learn East or West
A chicken in an eagle's domicile
Is twice as hostile
